Be-cuzz Cards — Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 15, 2026

Be-cuzz Cards ("the App") is developed by Vinh Ly. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information. Most of the App works entirely on your device. A small number of features send data off your device only to make them work — those are described below.

1. Information Stored On Your Device

By default, your content stays on your device:

2. Pronunciation Scoring (audio)

When you use the pronunciation scoring feature, a short recording of you saying the target word is sent to our backend, which forwards it to Microsoft Azure Speech Services to compute a score, and returns the score to your device.

3. Optional Account & Sync

Signing in is optional. If you choose to sign in with Apple to sync your decks and progress across devices, we store your account identifier (and email, if you share it) and your synced content in our database (Google Firebase) so it can be delivered to your other devices. If you do not sign in, no account data is collected. You can delete your account in the App, which removes your synced data.

4. Purchases & Subscriptions

Optional Pro features are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions handled by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information, card details or billing address; all payment is processed by the App Store under Apple's privacy terms. We receive only a confirmation that a valid subscription exists, stored against your anonymous account identifier so the App knows to unlock Pro features. Subscription terms are described in our Terms of Use.

5. Talk (live conversation translation)

The Talk feature lets two people speak to each other through the App. By default it works entirely on your device: speech is recognised on-device and the translation is performed on-device by Apple's translation framework, so no audio and no transcript is sent to us or to anyone else.

Talk also has an optional online mode (off by default; you turn it on yourself) that supports many more languages. When online mode is on and you use a language your device cannot recognise offline, the audio for that turn is sent to Apple to be transcribed; it is not sent to us. The App clearly marks any turn that used online recognition. We never receive your Talk audio in either mode.

If you turn on Better offline recognition (Settings › Talk Recognition), the App downloads a speech model to your device and uses it instead of Apple's recogniser. It runs entirely on your device, works without an internet connection, and sends no audio anywhere.

6. Other Services

7. Microphone

The App requests microphone access solely for pronunciation practice, as described in sections 2 and 5. Audio is recorded temporarily and is not stored permanently on your device or our servers.

8. No Advertising or Tracking

The App does not use advertising or third-party tracking frameworks, and does not track you across other apps or websites. The anonymous identifier described above is used only to operate the pronunciation feature and (if you sign in) to sync your data — not for advertising.

9. Data Storage

All local app data (flashcards, decks, cached definitions, images) is stored in the App's sandboxed Documents directory on your device. Deleting the App removes all local data. If you signed in, your synced data can be removed by deleting your account in the App.

10. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only data that leaves the device is described above (pronunciation audio, an anonymous usage identifier, and — only if you choose to sign in — your account and synced content); none of it is used to identify a child or for advertising.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
