K.O.Cards — Privacy Policy

K.O.Cards ("the App") is developed by Vinh Ly. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

1. Information We Collect

The App is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. All your data stays on your device.

• Saved words, flashcard decks, and practice history are stored locally on your device only.
• Settings and preferences (e.g., TTS speed, appearance, input mode) are stored locally using UserDefaults.
• Azure Speech credentials (if you choose to configure them) are stored securely in your device's Keychain. They are never sent anywhere except directly to Microsoft Azure for pronunciation scoring.

2. Third-Party Services

The App communicates with the following third-party services to provide its features:

• Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev) — to fetch English word definitions. Only the searched word is sent.
• Apple Translation — on-device translation provided by iOS. Data is processed locally by Apple's framework.
• Microsoft Azure Speech Services (optional) — if you configure your own API key, audio recordings of your pronunciation are sent to Azure for scoring. No audio is stored by the App after scoring. Please refer to Microsoft's Privacy Statement for their data handling practices.

3. Microphone

The App requests microphone access solely for pronunciation practice. Audio is recorded temporarily, sent to Azure for scoring (if configured), and is not stored permanently on your device or any server.

4. No Analytics or Tracking

The App does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking frameworks. We do not collect usage data, device identifiers, or any form of telemetry.

5. Data Storage

All app data (flashcards, decks, cached definitions, images) is stored in the App's sandboxed Documents directory on your device. Deleting the App removes all associated data.

6. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since no personal data is collected from any user, the App is safe for use by all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
